This class will begin where the beginning guitar ensemble left off. Students are required to know basic note reading, can recognize most basic chords, and are also comfortable with strumming. This class is an opportunity for the students to increase their guitar playing ability and enjoyment. A greater number of guitar chords and techniques will be learned as well as further knowledge in music theory.
Prerequisite: Students must audition.
Lesson Book: Christopher Parkening Guitar Method Book Vol. 1. Students need to have the lesson book by the first class.
Equipment Needed: Guitar, nylon strings, footstool, portable black music stand, and own instrument cleaning and maintenance items. Students should bring a pencil to class. Students can also change the strings on their current guitar to nylon.
Class day and time is subject to change as we adjust to the needs of the program.
Participants must be entering grades 4 to 12.
